Mike Huckabee Associated With White Supremacist Theocratic Organization

Do you still buy the line of bull that Mike Huckabee is a nice, charming fellow? You might want to reconsider that idea after you hear about Mike Huckabee’s association with the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Council of Conservative Citizens – that doesn’t sound so bad, right? Just a bunch of conservatives who like to chum around, right?

No. Not even close.

Consider some of the items from the CoCC’s Statement of Principles:

  • “We believe that the United States of America is a Christian country, that its people are a Christian people, and that its government and public leaders at all levels must reflect Christian beliefs and values.”
  • “We believe that the United States derives from and is an integral part of European civilization and the European people and that the American people and government should remain European in their composition and character.”
  • “We believe in the traditional family as the basic unit of human society and morality, and we oppose all efforts by the state and other powers to weaken the structure of the American family through toleration of sexual licentiousness, homosexuality and other perversions, mixture of the races, pornography in all forms, and subversion of the authority of parents.”
  • “We believe the schools, public, private, and parochial, should teach students to be proud of being Americans and proud of their national and local identities, and that they should instill in them the values of Western, Christian, and American civilization.”

The Council of Conservative Citizens is descended from the White Citizens Councils in the South that worked to prevent African-American children from attending integrated schools. They’re hardly just a chummy group of ordinary conservatives.

Yet, in 1993, Mike Huckabee accepted an invitation to speak to the Council of Conservative Citizens. Due to a political conflict, Huckabee was actually unable to attend, but he gave a videotaped speech to the group. “I can’t be with you but I’d like to be speaker next time.”

The Nation has issued the following challenge to Mike Huckabee: “Will you release the full transcript of Huckabee’s “extremely well received” videotaped address to the CofCC?”

Do you think Mike Huckabee will respond to the challenge?

Wrong Wrong Wrong. I am a Huckabee supporter. I also spend quite a bit of time monitering hate groups that try to pretend they are mainstream. I know more about the COuncil of Conservative Citizens than I ever wanted to know. Needless to say I vetted MIke Huckabee as to this before I supported him

      I have the facts here

I can not tell you how much these people hate Mike Huckabee. As a person tht over the years that has fought them and tried to expose them I am astonished that Mike Huckabee of all people is trying to be linked to them.

    2. Mike O'Risal says:

Huckabee is an execrable piece of garbage. This story ties in well to his recent position (or lack thereof, kindasorta) on the flying of the Confederate flag. Witness his ducking of the question on Hannity & Colmes.

I’ve written a bit more in this update explaining why if Huckabee can’t see why that flag would be an offensive symbol of the vilest sort of racism, he’s either a sympathizer or a moron, and either way manifestly unfit to lead this country.

Some fundamentalist pulpit might be an appropriate place for Huckabee, but he should be kept from ever setting foot in the White House.

      Wrong, jh? Wrong?

Oh, no, jh. The Council of Conservative Citizens has had multiple positive contacts with him, and courted him, and Mike Huckabee courted them back.

Your article doesn’t contain any facts that contradict the Nation’s report linking Mike Huckabee to the Council of Conservative Citizens – in fact, the Nation refers to the incidents that you would like us to believe absolve Mike Huckabee of guilt in this matter.

The fact is that Mike Huckabee only has not refused to speak before the Council of Conservative Citizens. He only didn’t want to share the stage with one particular person who was also invited to speak before the group. Mike Huckabee told the Council of Conservative Citizens that he would love to attend their meetings and speak to their group.

Mike Huckabee embraced the Council of Conservative Citizens, and twice tried to speak before the group to gain their support, knowing very well that they stand for White Supremacism and Christian Theocracy.

You cannot deny those facts, jh, because they’re facts.
