 | Why Is Mike Huckabee Autographing Bibles For His Campaign? |
The New York Times opens up this morning’s article on Mike Huckabee’s use of religion to promote his presidential campaign with the innocuous headline, Between Pulpit and Podium, Huckabee Straddles Fine Line. Yet, the photograph at the top of the article directly contradicts the headline. The photograph, taken by Yana Paskova for the New York Times, but which is not shown in the online edition of the New York Times, shows Mike Huckabee signing his autograph on the inside cover of a boy’s Holy Bible.

Who the heck does Mike Huckabee think he is, putting his autograph on the Holy Bible at a presidential campaign rally? Does he think that he wrote the Bible? Is he making an edit to the Book of Revelations?
Whatever line Mike Huckabee is walking in mixing religion and politics, this photograph shows quite clearly that it isn’t a fine one. Huckabee’s faith-based arrogance gets more outlandish with every passing week. Promising to reshape the Constitution to make it conform with right wing Christianity certainly isn’t walking the fine line either.
The editors of the New York Times should have seen the discrepancy between their moderate headline and Mike Huckabee’s religious extremist reality.

Just a note, the signing of the Bible is commonplace in Baptist circles. Many people get preachers or pastors to sign their Bibles.

I grew up in the town that headquarted the Grace Brethren Fellowship and the Free Methodist Church. My dad was the business admin. of the seminary of the Grace Brethren Church and I was surrounded by ministers, missionaries, deans, etc. and I also graduated from Bible College.
I have NEVER seen anyone with the kind of arrogance that Huckabee possesses. Never! He makes me want to vomit.
He is a disgusting, self-serving flim-flam man.

But washedandforgiven, Mike Huckabee isn’t running for Preacher-In-Chief! He isn’t that boy’s pastor.
Besides, I have to say that the practice, whether it’s commonplace among Southern Baptists or not, bespeaks a kind of blasphemy of arrogance. I’m all for blasphemy - but I don’t think that’s the message Mike Huckabee is intending to communicate.

I’ld love the Huckster to sign his records and past actions but, we all know he’s running as fast as he can away from all of them…that’s running a marathon in the same time it takes to run the 40 yard dash;

Did it ever occur to you that the boy may have asked Mike to autograph his Bible? I have a photograph of Jim Caviezel glued inside the front cover of my Bible. I have Hello Kitty stickers all throughout it, but I don’t worship either Hello Kitty or Jim. What’s wrong with you, anyway?

Where I come from, a book-signing is done by the AUTHOR of the book.
Did God write the Bible or did Huckabee write it?
Hmm. The way Huckabee wants to rewrite the constitution–and you know THAT’S not anywhere in the Bible, like next to the passage where Jesus says “render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s”–maybe Huckabee HAS rewritten the Bible.
