"The secret of ugliness consists not in irregularity, but in being uninteresting." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

The writings of white supremacist shooter James Von Brunn on Free Republic, and right-wing readers' positive reaction to his writings, is mirrored here for historical reference. Free Republic has taken the post down, trying to shove it down the memory hole.

Read the Google Cache of the "Arizona Sentinel" blog cut-and-paste hack job that right-wingers are claiming "proves" that Barack Obama applied to Occidental College as a foreigner. As you'll see with a quick read and the most minimal effort to find the faked sources referred to within, it's a hoax. Also a hoax, therefore, is the claim by right-wingers that the "Arizona Sentinel" is a newspaper website taken down by The Man because conspiracy theorists were TOO CLOSE to the truth! See here for a debunking of the fake "article."

Had it up to here with the silence of the Speaker of the House during years and years of U.S. Government torture? Then shout it to the highest clouds: Nancy Pelosi, Resign!

Obama Continues Surge in Bumper Sticker Straw Poll of Feb 3-9 2008

Since the Election Day debacle of 2004, we’ve kept track of committed support for various presidential contenders, indicated by sales of Election 2008 bumper stickers, magnets, campaign buttons, t-shirts and yard signs. While polls measure fickle opinions, our measure tracks the stronger commitment marked by the laying down of cash to promote a candidate in public. The more strongly committed are more likely to caucus and to vote. The following is the percent share of sales of our Election 2008 gear in the past week of February 3 to February 9, 2008:

Barack Obama 2008: 72.5%
Hillary Clinton 2008: 23.3%
Mike Gravel 2008: less than 1%
Others: 4.2%

This is the second week in a row of blowout results favoring Barack Obama. A lot has happened in the past week. Have the events of this week altered Obama’s popularity? Let’s take a look, breaking out last week into smaller clumps of time:

Percent of Election 2008 Sales to Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Others, February 3-9 2008

Hillary Clinton gained a bit more in sales as the week progressed, and Barack Obama a bit less, but broadly speaking there weren’t any big changes from before Super Tuesday to after, right up through the Saturday caucuses.
