Ralph Nader has announced that he’s going to run for President – again. For the presidential election in a row, Ralph Nader is launching a campaign. Why?
What will Ralph Nader have to say this time that he hasn’t already said over and over again for years and years and years? What reason can he give to people to vote for him now, at the age of 74, that he didn’t give before?
What reason does Ralph Nader have to believe that this year, he would be anything but the miserable failure he has been in the past? In the past, Ralph Nader has not only failed to win the presidency, he has also failed to promote his ideas. Did Ralph Nader’s campaign in 1996 get Bill Clinton to adopt any Green Party ideals? No. Did Ralph Nader’s campaign in 2000 move Al Gore and George W. Bush away from their rightward campaigns? No. How about in 2004? Did Ralph Nader convince John Kerry to come out more strongly against the war, or adopt any other progressive ideals? Nope.
I’m not writing this as a statement against the Green Party, but against Ralph Nader in particular. After all, Ralph Nader didn’t run as a Green in 2004, and in 2008 he’s planning on another independent run, working to make the Green Party more irrelevant than ever. Ralph Nader isn’t building anything up – not a party, not a movement – other than himself.
At this point, Nader just seems addicted to attention. He doesn’t have a plan for success – political or rhetorical.
What rabbit is he going to pull out of his hat this time? Ron Paul as a running mate?
Gag me. Nader’s faders.
Today’s Zogby poll shows Nader throwing the election to McCain regardless of whether Hillary or Barack is the Democratic candidate. Today Nader would get about 15% of the under 30 vote, and is polling strong with the young, independents, progressives, and libertarians.

Third Parties are the only parties who ever change anything: women’s right to vote, abolition of slavery, social security – all of these were championed from outside the two major parties and adopted when tiny fractions of the electorate voted for them. Let me turn your question around: What will Republicrats or Democans have to say this time that they haven’t already said over and over again for years and years and years?
So, then, when FDR created the New Deal, that was the work of a Third Party? When the Civil Rights Act was passed, that was the work of a Third Party? The Endangered Species Act was the work of a Third Party?
Name those third parties, Eric.
thats an idea, Ron Paul and Nader !!

I have copied my note to request our library order it.
By the way, I borrowed some of this copy from the Ron Paul website and then changed it a bit to make it a bit less opinionated so that the library personnel (who might be liberal minded) would not toss my request. The importance is on getting the libraries to ORDER the book!
Author: Ron Paul
Title: The Revolution: A Manifesto
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing (April 2008)
ISBN-10: 0446537519
ISBN-13: 978-0446537513
This book is about the principles of individual liberty, sound money, the Constitution, and the foreign policy of the Founding Fathers. It is a reintroduction to Americans which is simply written so that readers can hear and judge these great American principles for themselves and apply them in their lives. Readers can learn about the politics and principles the Founding Fathers established and that they need not be satisfied with the choices the system offers them every four years. Another way really is possible.

Except, Cindy, that Ron Paul doesn’t really support the Constitution. He opposes the part of the Constitution that declares that it’s the job of the Congress to act for the sake of the “general welfare”. Under Ron Paul, it’s every American for themselves.
I think ralph nader is getting ready to make some plans for 2012 for the white house. he has a big book tour coming up on seven seas press and 2 best sellers coming out : direct democracy and only the rich can save us. only ralph nader knows that too much money is being spent and the american people are being taxed to death he is the only candidate for 2012 he has been making some plans and hes ready. the people are ready for him this time.
