In Face Of Job Loss Bush Cut Jobs Programs

It didn’t take a genius to see late last year that the American economy was headed toward a serious crisis in which people would be struggling to find work. Wall Street may have been surprised when the economy shed 63,000 jobs last month, but those of us on the working platform of the economy weren’t surprised at all.

It’s a testament to the blindness of Bush’s supply side economic vision that he didn’t see the job losses coming. In fact, Bush’s proposed federal budget for 2009 puts the brakes on job creation.

  • Employment service grants are completely eliminated
  • Workforce Investment Act programs are cut by $515 million
  • Job Corps for employment of young Americans is cut by $46 million
  • Senior Employment programs are cut $172 million

Just when America needs more jobs, George W. Bush and his Republican supporters have been preparing to shrink job creation programs.

Bush Republicans say not to worry, that some big corporation will throw you a bone, and give you a job… probably… if you’re in the right place… at the right time… and are willing to make a few sacrifices… in income… and family life… and don’t expect to have your health care paid for.

In the Republican world, you see, government job programs are viewed as bad things, because they’re actually fair to workers. The Republicans are looking for “free market solutions”, which is the phrase they use to describe serfdom.

Is Bush and corporate America TRYING to just KILL the lower classes with all their domestic “policies” that cut funding for anything worthwhile? What are people to do with no jobs, high energy prices, no affordable health care, and NO HELP from Washington (let alone each state)?

The people will either peacefully organize to get those things fixed or they will be provoked into providing a reason for moving up to the next level of police state.
