![]() | What Did You Get For Voting in the Florida Primary? |
The Florida Democratic Party just shot itself in the foot, declaring that it will refuse to sponsor a redone Democratic presidential primary in Florida, even though doing so would ensure that the state’s Democrats would get representation in the national presidential convention, and have a say in choosing the Democratic presidential nominee.
I agree with Jim’s contention that the Florida Democratic Party now must deal with the consequences of its choices. It’s had lots of opportunities to work fairly within the national system, and has chosen not to do so at every turn.
Nonetheless, I have compassion for Democratic rank and file voters in Florida. That’s why I designed this I voted in the Democratic presidential primary, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt t-shirt.
If I were a Florida Democratic voter, I know what I’d do. I’d call up every other Democrat in Florida that I know, and do everything that I could to support a campaign to replace the Democratic Party leadership in Florida. The Democratic Party leaders have shown some downright awful judgment down there, and don’t deserve the support of the Party membership.
Let this t-shirt be a protest against them.
It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time for the widening of previous roads and the opening of new paths, a time of an emptying country and swelling cities, yet a time when these paths are mined by knowing algorithms of the all-seeing eye. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.
