Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Vice President Dick Cheney both went to Iraq yesterday, to show what a peaceful and happy place Iraq is. Surrounded by huge numbers of armed guards and military aircraft flying overhead, Cheney and McCain intended to show how ordinary Iraqis now live free of the fear of ethnic bloodshed.
Then, boom. A bomb went off near a Shia shrine in Karbala, and 52 people were killed.
That’s just the latest in a series of deadly bombings across the country. John McCain says that he wants to see more of this kind of “victory”. Do you agree with him?
