Here’s the bright idea from John McCain for how to deal with the economic and energy crisis of the skyrocketing price of crude oil and gasoline: Reduce the price of gasoline by 18.4 cents – for just three months.
Is that going to make a real difference for you? Of course it won’t. That’s because, if you’re like most Americans, the price of a gallon of gasoline has risen about one dollar just in the last year. What’s more, the price of gasoline is expected to rise even further, by much more than 18 cents, by the time that the summer driving begins.
This 18.4 cent proposal from John McCain is an insult to Americans who are suffering from the massive inflation across the entire economy that has resulted from the increased cost of oil. We’re not just paying more for gasoline. We’re paying more for food. We’re paying more for anything that has to be shipped – and even for some things that don’t, as businesses pay more just to remain in operation.
All this, plus the recession and the bust in real estate, and John McCain wants to give us 18.4 cents?!? Buddy, that’s not even two bits.
John McCain just doesn’t get it.
