I remember driving a beat-up old Toyota van across the country to my new home of Arizona back in 1994, and being astounded when I had to pay $15 for a 13-gallon fill up at a pump in Wyoming. I was astounded because I thought at the time that was expensive.
Gas is $3.46 a gallon today in Columbus Ohio, making a 13-gallon fill up cost $45. It’s going to get more expensive, with the cost of oil surging to a new record above $115/barrel today.
It’s not just the price of gasoline that has multiplied by a factor of three, either. The cost to truckers to deliver goods has gone up. The cost to the US Postal Service to deliver mail has gone up. The energy cost of manufacturers has gone up. The cost to grow food with petroleum-based fertilizers has gone up.
It’s going to get worse. The chickens are finally coming home to roost, and the weight of them could snap the tree in two.
Oh, do you think it’s starting to sink in now to the idiots who supposedly elected this fascist regime TWICE just how bad the whole Bush/corporate America-bullshit-war-in-Iraq-under-the-pretense-of-terrorism terrorism thing actually is?
Well, hang on ’cause it’s gonna get a whole lot worse.
