I haven’t surfed around to the various news sites or turned on the radio yet, but I can imagine what’s going to be said today. Pundits all over the place had set expectations that Hillary Clinton “had” to win Pennsylvania by double digits, and it looks like she has won by exactly that: 10 percentage points. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton at one point had a 20 percentage point lead in PA state polls. So you’re going to hear Obama campaign representatives telling you that Clinton had her lead cut in half, and that Hillary Clinton needs to drop out now for this elusive party healing thing. You’re going to hear Clinton campaign representatives telling you that Clinton has won an upset, and that Barack Obama needs to get out of the way of her nomination.
Here’s what’s happened. Hillary Clinton won the Pennsylvania primary and garnered about 20 delegates from it (wait and see) more than Barack Obama. Period. Everything else you’ll hear is the massage of social expectations.
Does anyone have any info / thoughts about why gender was included on the PA democratic primary ballot? Next to each candidate there was a listing of their gender in parenthesis. Did anyone else find this disturbing?
What? You bet I’d find that disturbing. Do you have an image of that ballot?
Sounds to me like it was practically begging people to vote according to gender.
I don’t have a photo, but I promise you that it was there. I called the PA dems and they said it was a mandate from the DNC. I called them too but was unable to reach a human.
All of the candidates had a gender listing except the presidential candidates. I guess they assume we all know the Clinton is female and Obama is male.
I tried to find the ballot online and have not been able to yet. I’ve found some ballots from other PA counties and they don’t look the same. I guess each county has their own ballot? BTW I am in Lackawanna county, PA.
