Has anyone else out there in Americaland noticed a large number of bumblebees this spring? I see them everywhere I go here in Columbus, Ohio. Anne Raver sees many of them in Maryland. Robin threw a pillow at one in New York. The Iowa Victory Gardener reports a greater proportion of bumblebees than honeybees in Des Moines.
It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time for the widening of previous roads and the opening of new paths, a time of an emptying country and swelling cities, yet a time when these paths are mined by knowing algorithms of the all-seeing eye. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

Yes. Here in Trumansburg, New York there are a very large number of bumblebees, and in fact all sorts of bees - not honeybees though - are more numerous and more active than usual at this time of year.

Here in Oklahoma City, I’ve seen a grand total of…three.
All spring.

My flowering holly bushes in PA are visited by many (at least 50) of three or more different species of bees lately. Nice to see them back.

I’m curious… are they bumblebees, or some other native bee species, or are they non-native honeybees, Tom?
I have yet to see any honeybees here this year. The bumblebees seem to be taking over.
