![]() | The Personal Price of Gas |
No, not that kind of personal gas. I’m talking about gasoline.
This was the price of gasoline where I live yesterday evening. 6.1 pennies to go until it’s four dollars per gallon.
Is it affecting the way I live? Oh, you bet. An hour’s drive is now an exceptional luxury, not something to take unless I really need to. I’m walking, and I’m biking, and if I have to go a long distance where it’s available, I’m taking the bus - although bus fares will probably be going up too.
I have discovered the limit of how valuable gasoline is to me - it depends upon the trip. For day to day use, however, three dollars and ninety-three point four cents represents more value than is contained within a gallon of gas.
I have also joined an organic community supported agriculture about a mile down the road, which I can ride my bicycle to with a trailer hitched. The CSA is now the economical choice, at nineteen dollars per week, including eggs.
At the grocery store, the cost of a single bell pepper has risen to two and a half dollars. When I pay that $2.50, I’m mostly paying for transportation costs. Local food has become affordable food.

It’s good to make changes in your life to make your fuel use more economical. That said, you might want to get used to these changes because the price of gas will not likely decrease by any significant degree. Im afraid these prices are here to stay.

What George W. Bush thinks of $4.00-per-gallon gasoline: Mission Accomplished.

Aren’t you “Progressives” the same people that said we went to Iraq for oil? Now your crying about gas prices, and I am sure you don’t see the irony. If the price was really low you would probably be screaming about the fleecing of Iraq oil fields and Haliburton. Oh and Obama is a moron regardless of color. Condi in ‘12

Right. Sure, Joe. And Condoleeza Rice, who lied to Congress about Iraq and was caught red handed in the lie, is a genius? Sure.

Classic “Progressive” response. Slam side-notes avoid issues and facts at all costs. Lying shouldn’t be a disqualifier in your book. (look into Barack Hussein Obama’s Selma speech) If I was as “progressive” as you Antiqued, I’d label you a racist for questioning an African-American.

Hey Joe, what about the fact the dollars you earn don’t buy much any more? What about the fact that Wall Street is laughing all the way to the bank as people are being forced out of their homes? i could go on for days with facts that your bullshit Republican policies have actually CAUSED real hardship and a decline in America since your fascist in chief TOOK power in 2000, and you’re still worried about your “team” winning? Just wait ’til it hits you and your family, ’cause it isn’t going to get any better any time soon. What have the Republicans done for you? Unless you’re in the super wealthy class, you’ll be increasingly negatively effected by the Bush years.

Never claimed to be a Bush fan but thanks for the label. I guess you don’t want to discuss gas prices either? Very few people in America vote in THEIR best interest anymore. Look at African-Americans 50 years of voting for “Progressives” the same people who voted against and held them down the worst. Then “Progressives” label Republicans Racist and Bigoted, Funny. FYI Anonymous, Vast majority of people that “Lost” their homes were speculators and people paying interest only. So if you have only payed interest but no principal your a renter not an owner. Americans need to take some personal responsibility for their own dumb moves. So maybe tax payers should foot the bill for people walking out of the casino’s that lost money too… in a “Progressive” world.
