[IN - 3] Rep Walberg, Timothy [MI - 7] Rep Westmoreland, Lynn A. [GA - 3] |
These are the members of Congress who have cosponsored H.Res 598, a bill that declares itself to be:
1. “Supporting the goals of the Ten Commandments Commission”
2. “dedicated to the display, awareness, commemoration, and celebration of the Decalogue which we know to be the foundation of the Judeo-Christian faith;”
3. In favor of “education about the moral standard as given by our Loving Creator and rededication to those standards;”
4. Proclaiming “the need to heal the wounds of history through strategic and practical objectives, proactive love, and obedience to the commands of God;”
The First Amendment forbids the government from using its power to push a religion down its citizens’ throats, and that’s what points #2, #3, and #4 are all about. These members of Congress have declared a higher allegiance to the promotion of their own religion than to the integrity of the Constitution of the United States. This is a declaration that contradicts their sworn oaths of office.
And what about point #1? When these 31 members of the House declare “the House of Representatives supports the goals of the Ten Commandments Commission,” what are they supporting? What are the goals of the Ten Commandments Commission?
There’s no better place to look for the goals of the Ten Commandments Commission than the Ten Commandments Commission website. Here are some of the goals that the Ten Commandments Commission website declares:
1. “The Ten Commandments Commission (TCC) is a coalition of churches, synagogues, civic and community organizations dedicated to keeping America One Nation Under God.”
2. “Together, we must stand strong against the increasing movement of atheists in America.”
3. “God is so vital to the success of our country”
4. “Duty to abide by the Ten Commandments”
5. “To educate our fellow citizens about the important role the Word of God must play in our society.”
6. “Standing up for God”
7. “Reverse the influence of these atheists”
8. “We must not allow the determination of these dark forces to infuse ungodly actions into our holiday season for another year.”
9. “Remind our fellow citizens that we are One Nation Under God, not Allah”
10. “All elected… leaders… to celebrate the annual Ten Commandments Weekend by hosting local events in support of the Ten Commandments and its principles.”
11. “Obedience to the Word of God among all mankind.”
12. “America is about to be destroyed by secular humanism and Radical Islam. Together we can make a stop to this.”
13. “Acknowledgement of our almighty sovereign God and his son Jesus Christ who died for our sins.”
To put a stop to Islam. To put a stop secular humanism. To reverse the influence of atheists. To have obedience to the Word of the Judeo-Christian God among all mankind. To place the Judeo-Christian God, and not other religions’ deities, atop this nation. To ensure the word of the Judeo-Christian God plays a central role in society. To have all elected officials celebrate and support the Ten Commandments and not other religions’ sacred documents. To beat back holiday observations in this country that the Commission feels are not Godly enough.
These are the stated, avowed goals of the Ten Commandments Commission.
By signing their names to a bill expressing official governmental support for the goals of the Ten Commandments Commission, these members of the House of Representatives have made an open declaration in support of an American theocracy and in opposition to the Constitution of the United States of America.
Their God over Our Country? These men and women are no patriots.
It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time for the widening of previous roads and the opening of new paths, a time of an emptying country and swelling cities, yet a time when these paths are mined by knowing algorithms of the all-seeing eye. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

God as an almighty sovereign over the United States of America? They mean preachers as sovereign theocrats ruling over the American people. This is medieval thinking.
These people are trying to drag America back to the days of the Salem witch trials.

Week of May 21st Score Jim 2 God 0. Go Jim Go! I wonder which commandments he has a problem with? Thou Shall not steal? (Taxes) Thou Shall have no other god before me? (The environment) Thou shall not covet your neighbor? (Class envy).
After reading the text of the bill it looked like a time to refocus on morals. Boo morals, unless you feel morally obligated to believe in global warming, you know for the kids, then yea morals!
Side note love the Obama shirts that look like Che Guevara! It subtlety says ‘Communism’ but with a touch of spring. Great for those Saturdays you drive your SUV to Starbucks while listening to NPR talking about American consumption.

The Iranians, the Saudis and the Taliban also say they’re just standing up for high standards of morality too.
Yeah, except for the fact that Barack Obama doesn’t have long hair, and he doesn’t wear a beret, and he’s not a member of the communist party, and he favors diplomacy over armed insurrection, and that he supports civil liberties, and about forty other things, yeah, all except for just about everything if you tilt your head and squint you could swear that Barack Obama is Che Guevara.
Joe, you just keep making your wildly incorrect and public assumptions about who we are if they make you feel comfortable. They have the helpful side effect of making you look ridiculous enough that people won’t pay attention to what else you write.

The design toolbag,
You don’t know any of that shit you said about Obama to be true because he’s never stated any of that. Look up the definition of communism and it doesn’t say any of the things you listed are involved in communism. It does talk about a classless, stateless society of common ownership. (Sound familiar?) Commie’s also have a problem with capitalism as does Barack Hussein Obama.

P.S. your article is about hating morals and Christians but way to get sidetracked on your personal messiah, Jim!

Assignment: Evaluate the problems with logical thinking in your previous two statements. Discuss.

Joe, if you really believe that it’s anti-Christian to fight against members of Congress who want to use the power of government to promote Christianity over other religions, then you believe that the Bill of Rights is anti-Christian.

As one who reveres the constitution as an Historical document of timeless common sense, it seems strange that anyone who has taken an oath of allegiance to it(some more than once)should now try to alter it. These persons show a remarkable level of ignorance and/or stupidity in the presentation shown here. It would do well for Jim and other like-minded godists to read the document in its entirety. The results might be more edifying than hanging you hat on a flawed and faulty dogma.
The Constitution was written by men who carefully studied the effects of religious dogma on government The same governments that created class in society, were happy to keep the general public ignorant by encouraging them to bow down and worship god in fear of divine retribution from a priest cult supported and controlled by government. Meanwhile the monarchy and the aristocracy were busy raping the populace, destroying initiative and enslaving talent.
By the way: “There is but one god and his name is Yaweh”. There is but one god and his name is Allah. You either accept that there is ONE god who is nameless, or accept many gods to whom you give names. Neither of which is the purview of this or any other administration.

Darebrit, I’m not a “godist.” And I have no idea what you mean in your last paragraph.
