Fill Your Tank Now. Oil Rises 5 Dollars In One Day!

May 22nd, 2008 | Posted by Peregrin Wood in Economy

It was just half a year ago that economists were wondering whether the price of a barrel of crude oil would ever go above $100. Today, the price of oil has shot up past $135 per barrel. That’s more than a $5 increase in just one day.

Fill up your gas tank now. Bring an extra container while you’re at it. The price of oil is going to be a lot more expensive before too long.

I don’t like to contribute to an unnecessary panic. In this case, however, panic is not really unnecessary. Breathe deeply. Keep control of your emotions. Drive safely.

But oh my freaking goodness hang on to your hat. Things are about to get freaky.

People have already been cutting back on their spending due to the inflation that has come from the increase in the price of fossil fuels. What will people do now, and what will the economic consequences be?

How can people already living on the edge, with debts they’re barely keeping up with, possibly deal with the 20 percent increase in oil prices just over the last three weeks?

So NOW what are people supposed to do? Already i’m seeing the economic impact of less work due to people having to prioritize along the lines of SURVIVAL. i can’t even imagine what the rest of the world (much poorer than us and immediately feeling the brunt of any economic downturn) is going to do.

If this is any indication of the coming months, watch out as the heat comes on (summer), people have shorter tempers and get really desperate, guns are easily available to everyone, and prices continue to rise while salaries remain stagnant or are cut. So many people here live paycheck to paycheck and can’t afford ANY downtime. They continue to work as hard as they can, some taking two and three jobs, AND THEY STILL CAN’T KEEP UP!

Civilization as we know it is about to come to an end (if you haven’t yet awakened to the unspoken insanity of “civilization” and our “history”). Not only is the Bush fantasy crashing down (as it’s been slowly unwinding through the various monetary problems combined with the reverberation of our terrible foreign policy), but so is the pipe dream of civilization. It’s always been ugly, but it may revert to “brutish and short” again soon.

We’re going to see more and more disruptions
as governments and business and the whole system grinds to a halt. HOW CAN THEY KEEP UP? The way we evolved this game it only works SLOWLY. No one can keep up with this pace. We SHOULD HAVE been investing in new technologies, energy sources, and efficiency since the 1970′s when the last gas crisis tried to wake us up to the unsustainable way we (humanity) were living off the planet instead of with the planet.

Our ignorance, greed, sloth, etc. is coming back on us like a debt owed and to be collected (the hard way).
