I just received an e-mail entitled “How to Win.” It’s from Hillary Clinton. The Senator writes:
This Sunday, voters in Puerto Rico will go to the polls and make their voices heard — the first time the island has played such a vital role in selecting our party’s nominee. At this critical moment, I am depending on you to help me make sure they have a choice. We are depending on the voters of Puerto Rico in our fight to secure the nomination.
It doesn’t matter what the pundits say. You and I know this race is up to the voters, and I’m going to keep fighting for every last vote. That’s why it is so important that we get voters to the polls over the next few days — and we can’t do that without your help.
Over the next four days, we have the opportunity to make history in the Puerto Rico primary — and win the national primary vote by redoubling our efforts.
There is no “national primary.” That’s a fiction. But if by that Hillary Clinton means the popular vote, then she has a problem. You see, Barack Obama has won a majority of the popular vote. Even if you count votes from the state of Florida. Even if you do what Hillary Clinton bizarrely wants to do and not count any of the caucus states. Even if you do those things, Barack Obama still has won a majority of the popular vote by a wide margin.
And, of course, Barack Obama has a really big lead in the delegate count, which is what actually determines the Democratic nominee. With endorsements coming in, Barack Obama has picked up two more delegates today. Even if Barack Obama drops out of the Puerto Rico primary and Hillary Clinton grabs each and every single one 55 of the delegates from Puerto Rico in Sunday’s primary (which won’t happen), Clinton will still be 144 delegates behind Barack Obama. With every additional contest and every additional endorsement, the number of delegates left for Clinton to grab just gets smaller and smaller.
Hillary Clinton is living in dreamland. It’s not mean or crass or sexist to point that out. It’s truthist.
Will the madness ever cease?
I’ve taken to calling her “Bizzaro Hillary.” What kind of alternate universe is she living in?
The “assassinaton” interview she makes an arguement about electoral votes and swing states–”it’s not the math, it’s the map”.
