Indiana Republican Mike Pence can only work so hard as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. When the FISA Amendments Act was pushed through Congress so fast and hard that hardly anyone even had a chance to even read it before voting on it, for example, Mike Pence could not summon the energy to muster a protest. He just sat back and let it happen. Never mind that the law took away the protections of the fourth amendment to the Constitution in the Bill of Rights. Mike Pence was too busy to do anything about the problem. He just hopped on the bandwagon and let freedom crumble.
What was Mike Pence so busy working on that he couldn’t bother to defend American freedom? Garfield. No, not the president. The cat. Garfield the cartoon cat.
Representative Pence was hard at work, representing the vital interests of his constituents, preparing a speech honoring Garfield the cat, the newspaper comic strip.
Finally, after toiling away, Congressman Pence was prepared. Yesterday, Mike Pence stood up, walked to the podium on the floor of the House of Representatives, and unveiled the fruit of his work: “Madam Speaker,” he said, “I rise today to honor the 30th birthday of arguably America’s favorite feline friend, Garfield.”
“Garfield has remained a symbol of stability in an ever-changing world,” Pence explained.
Mike Pence is being challenged this year by Democrat Barry Welsh - but does Barry Welsh have a position on Garfield? No! Has Barry Welsh ever done anything to support the vital comic strip cat? No!
All Barry Welsh has to talk about on his campaign web site are things like health care, infrastructure, Social Security and energy science.
Why on earth would the voters of Indiana’s 6th congressional district vote for such superficiality, when they have Mike Pence taking care of important business in Congress - business like giving speeches about Garfield the cartoon cat?
