![]() | My Two Cents: The Only Change I Can Believe In |
The following is a letter/podcast I am sending to the Obama for President campaign today, along with two shiny pennies:
Senator Obama,
When you announced your support for George W. Bush’s FISA Amendments Act and faith-based initiatives, you lost my trust.
A Democrat must always support the Constitution. To support government programs that blatantly violate the Constitution is not an acceptable political maneuver to move to the Center. It is to distance yourself from the center, from the core of what the United States of America stands for. That is what the Constitution is, and it is what you are rejecting.
So, when your campaign requested a donation from me, I thought I would send something appropriate: My two cents.
These days, that’s the only change I can believe in.
Spend it wisely.
It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time for the widening of previous roads and the opening of new paths, a time of an emptying country and swelling cities, yet a time when these paths are mined by knowing algorithms of the all-seeing eye. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

Right J. i too have become disheartened that Obama has swung to the right (maybe to grab some of the independent Republican voters). Nader is the only one out there saying exactly what the problem is and how he’d handle it. It’s worth listening to and if Obama doesn’t shape up, that’s where my vote will go AGAIN. i’m becoming very cynical to the pseudo-spectacle that politics has become. Corporate America is very literally running the show and out little “vote” counts for naught when they control who we vote in. It’s always one of there guys! The whole thing is rigged from the beginning and we buy it like a soap opera. The Republicans and the Democrats are the same coin.

All the way around I’d say it was money well spent. Well done!

Obama will do anything and say anything to get elected… there will be no change.

America doesn’t become a great nation and world leader again, without developing a culture that supports, encourages, and honors women. For now, the demise of America’s women and the imminent death of the Black woman continue its path.
