Join The Citizen Filibuster of the FISA Amendments Act!

Yes, I know that the FISA Amendments Act has passed both houses of Congress and been passed into law. I know that the filibuster in the Senate failed.

Now it’s time for a filibuster by the citizens of the United States of America.

The Democrats and Republicans who voted for the FISA Amendments Act did it in the middle of the summer because they think that Americans are too superficial to pay attention. They think we Americans have a short attention span, and that a few days at the beach will remove any of the anger we feel as a result of watching members of both parties in our Congress rip the Constitution to shreds.

Barack Obama and 71 other senators voted to kill the Senate filibuster. They voted to end debate and just pass the FISA Amendments Act.

filibuster obama fisa amendments actThanks to Barack Obama and his Republican allies, the Senate can no longer speak on the grave abuses of the FISA Amendments Act. So, it’s up to us to speak.

The politicians in Washington D.C. expect that you will just be upset for a few days, and then you’ll forget about it. Prove them wrong.

Join a citizen filibuster of the FISA Amendments Act. Don’t stop writing. Don’t stop talking. Don’t stop calling your members of Congress until the FISA Amendments Act is repealed.

Democracy will die when citizens no longer care enough to work to defend it.

According to your last statement and the situation we have accepted since 2000, our democracy is already dead. Obama doesn’t have to do anything different once he’s elected. Apparently, we’ll go along with whatever he does! The whole government is stacked in all three branches with people who DON’T CARE what the majority of voters think, burden the middle and lower classes with more and more debt (wait til we have to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and maybe the airlines for the second time ON TOP OF the ongoing Iraq and Afghanistan incursions) without our approval, and ignore the Constitution (the oath of office is now meaningless) with NO REACTION (to speak of) from the American sheeple, and no recourse.

Democracy – it’s decidedly NOT. Capitalism has thoroughly corrupted it into an Orwellian nightmare.

  • We intend, Tom, to do what we can to make no one able to claim that there has been no reaction from the American people.

I cannot speak for the rest of the USA, but as for me, I will speak out.

You know, I’ve given this alot of thought. We NEED to have McCain win now. Now follow me on this.

The Dems will win a large majority in both houses of Congress. That’s pretty much agreed upon. With that, if Obama wins the White House, and has a Democratic Congress, they will be like Bush was when he had a Republican Congress. They would rubber stamp everything he does with out question. The have to tow the party line and show unity. That could give Obama a blank check to spy on anyone for any reason. BUT

If McCain wins, he will have a Democratic Congress. Then, Congress will play politics and check him at every turn. With that, if they even have a hint that he may have done some “out of FISA” kinda spying they would call for hearings and have a media circus.

At least with McCain as president, we would know sooner and with more details what’s going on than if Obama were President. It sickens me to think this way but when it comes to our Freedoms, at least this would buy us time untill the court challenges would/could repeal this law.

And frankly, (My big thing) Obama’s pulling the Troops out promise of within his first 90 days is crap now anyway. It’s already up to 16 months and still climbing. We all know that when he takes office he will get his “security briefing” from his Generals, he’ll want to Play War and keep the troops there to show his machismo. So him and Mccain are carbon copies there.

  • Yeah, but you know where your argument falls apart? It’s where the Democratic Congress actually stands up against a Republican President.

Since the Democrats were elected to a majority in Congress in 2006, have they checked President Bush at every turn? No. They’ve capitulated to Bush at every turn.

We do not want John McCain as President.

What we need is for a progressive Democratic uprising against Barack Obama that is so strong that he cannot withstand it, and he is forced to apologize for his mistake and introduce legislation to repeal the FISA Amendments Act.

Ya know, i just had a sick thought – we could be labeled as terrorists or whatever and “disappeared” now that FISA is the law – for merely opposing the law!
