If you need another reason to stop being a “good Democrat,” consider this message sent out by Democratic National Committee leader Don Fowler and signed by DNC Secretary Alice Germond:
I must confess a bit of fatigue and irritation with people who continue to carp, complain, and criticize the results of the primary and lay down conditions for their support. The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t establish conditions to recognize the Boston Celtics as NBA Champions; Roger Federer did not demand concessions before recognizing that Rafael Nadal defeated him at Wimbledon.
It is time to act in a mature and resourceful fashion. It’s time to put the primaries behind us. It’s time to support Barack Obama without conditions or demands.
It’s time to WIN for Barack Obama, the Democratic Party, America, and our future. We have an unparalleled opportunity. I hope we will all do everything we can to seize the moment.
See you at the Inauguration.
Sincerely,
Don Fowler
DNC Member At-Large, South Carolina
Former Chair of the Democratic National CommitteeAlice Germond
Secretary, Democratic National Committee
Got that? Politics is like sports. The most important thing in politics is WINNING elections. Political discourse is fatiguing and irritating. And the proper thing for Americans to do is to “to support Barack Obama without conditions or demands.”
I’ll always be a democrat. I’ll never be a Democrat.
Time to support our leader with no conditions or demands. Time to WIN! When’s the last time I heard that? Oh yeah, 2003. That ended good.
Poor, poor Don and Alice. They are irritated and fatigued. Citizens of democracies who make their views known, express their dissatisfaction with politicians, and articulate what policy positions they wish politicians to take in exchange for their vote make them tired and cranky.
Maybe Don and Alice need a break from fussy little babyish civic participants who just don’t realize when they are supposed to shut up, act mature, and stop questioning their authority.
I know. A nice long vacation in Saudi Arabia ought to do the trick. They can sit back, relax, and never ever have to worry about carping, bitching and moaning from snot-nosed little citizens who want something in exchange for their votes.
Another question: Has anybody out there who was considering voting against Obama because of his recent right-wing policy advocacy been convinced to get back in line by Don and Alice telling you that you irritate them because you are carping, critical and immature?
How successful has this message been?
Congratulations, Don and Alice. You are insincere conniving Machiavellians just like the Republicans. Want to win (excuse me, WIN)? Then do what it takes to get votes. I’m a voter. You want vote? Then kiss my ass. Quit bitching and moaning about your fatigue and irritability and calling me a disobedient child. I don’t like it. Slap on a plastic smile and dance for me, you Machiavellian monkeys.
And make me believe it.
