Here’s a question I’d like Sarah Palin to answer at tonight’s debate:
Governor Palin, you say you’re a fighter against corruption and the special interests. But as Mayor of Wasilla, which was until a year and a half ago your only elected office, you regularly received gifts from influential townspeople and businesses, you used your political office to grant favors to your father, your husband and your friends, and pushed special zoning changes for your $327,000 house.
Is this the record of a reformer, and is this the kind of reform you intend to bring to the White House?

Wow! Shades of criminal behavior. Sarah accepted a bunch of flowers and a facial from towns people. That must strain the moral fabric of the nation! The facts about Obama’s home seem to elude you!
Let me refresh your memoryIn June 2005, Obama and now-indicted political fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko purchased adjoining parcels in the Kenwood neighborhood of Chicago. The parcels — one containing a house and the other undeveloped land — were owned by University of Chicago doctors Fredric Wondisford and Sally Radovick (husband and wife).
Obama paid $1.65 million for his home ($300K less than the asking price of $1.95 million, but it was the Obama’s third and “best offer”) while Rezko paid $625,000 for the adjacent, undeveloped lot.
Both closed on their properties on the same day.
Obama wanted to increase the size of his side yard and in January 2006, Obama paid Rezko $104,500 for a strip of his land - about one-sixth of the parcel and costs one-sixth of the Rezko’s original purchase price of $625,000. In 2006, Tony Rezko was indicted for fraud and was convicted in 2008.
In 2007, Tony’s wife, Rita, sold the remaining lot for $575,000.
So, how did the Obama’s originally learn about this home?
According to My DD: Direct Democracy, in 2004, Barack’s wife, Michelle, was on the board of the Commission of Chicago Landmarks and in this capacity, learned of a designated historical home in Kenwood that was for sale — the home and the adjacent land at 5046 South Greenwood.
…a Historical Georgian revival home built in 1910 with four fireplaces, glass-door bookcases fashioned from Honduran mahogany, and a 1,000-bottle wine cellar…
At the time, the Obamas were living in a Hyde Park condo and wanted to upgrade to a bigger space. While the doctors wanted to sell the home and the lot together, the Obamas could not afford it. Barack then allegedly contacted Tony Rezko for advice on how to buy it since Rezko was also a real estate developer.
Another headache over this home for Obama is whether he received a discount on a home loan. And, Obama’s home has become a big headache for neighbors, too, with each day looking “… like there’s going to be a parade, but there isn’t one.”
I think you hate Palin so much that you strain at a gnat, and swallow a House! Nice smear job Jim!
I’ve written with strenuous criticisms of Barack Obama in the past. I don’t defend Barack Obama on this point. It’s entirely possible that Barack Obama has been corrupt.
Are you willing to say the same of Sarah Palin, or are you blinded by your partisanship?
We are dealing with policiticians here; there have to have been some unscrupulous dealings in order for them to be at the top of their “game”. Barack Obama wanted to get a deal on his home, many other US citizens would have taken advantage of the same opportunities Palin and Oboma have. As for tonight, my expectations are so low for Palin that there is no way she could do as bad as I think she will.
Sorry Jim, Partisanship won’t fly, I was with the Green party until 1995. And now I am a little like the Marines, I am just looking for a few good politicians. In my view, Palin is a good woman, maybe not what the intellectual elites want, but good never the less. I would rather have a moral person of average intellect, than a very clever fraud. The president is surrounded by advisors, the morality filters out the tendency to aggrandizement. There is no possible way for anyone person to know much about everything. Except William F. Buckley..
Uh huh. You just pulled a Palin. Wordsy, wordsy, wordsy, but when it boils down to it, you won’t criticize Sarah Palin for the very thing you criticize Barack Obama for.
