Simple answer: He didn’t.

There are some facts that I would like to explain. These, BTW, are NOT opinion. They are facts.

1. School records are not,in any way, public records. Period. There is no reason why Obama would need to seal them, because they are already not public. That means that even filing a FOIA request will be turned down. Because they are not public.

2. The Federal Government requires certain information to be put on official state birth documents. It is up to each state to decide what they call those document’s, and how (computer record or photocopy of certified original document). Each state decides the length of time that birth documents remain private. In Hawaii, that length of time is 75 years. Which means that when Obama is 75 years of age, the public will have the right to request and get a copy of the birth document that they are currently using.

Many states, because of the large number of births and the advent of computers, are having the records on paper entered into computer’s. Then, when someone request’s a copy of their birth record (like Obama or myself) because they no longer have the original record, they will print out the record, with all the information that the Federal Government calls for. They use whatever form is currently approved for use. If someone who is 20 and someone who is 50 both requested a copy of their birth record on the same day, they would get a computer printed copy on whatever form they are currently using. That means that, except for the vital information, they would look alike. The States, after putting the birth record information into a database, put the original document’s in storage. That still does not give the general public the right to view them. No matter how much they want to. Or why.

The money that Obama has supposedly spent to keep his records secret. First, the majority of records that people are calling for they simply, legally, have no right to. Also, very few of the lawsuits have actually included him.

Legally, all the President has to show is proof of citizenship. And not even to the public. If I remember correctly, the Speaker of the House had to certify that she had seen proof. And she did so.

Personally, I would like to see a requirement, in each state, that to be able to run for President in that state, they have to show proof of citizenship (for both the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate) when filing to put their name on the ballot. I, also, think that the Speaker of the House, before being sworn in should have to do the same, since the Speaker is 3rd in line for the Presidency.

Not liking that Obama has not produced document’s on demand, when there is not legal reason for doing so, does not mean that he is covering anything up. It means that he knows that, Constitutionally, he knows, for a fact, that they are not required. He didn’t have to let the public see his COLB, but he did it anyway. I was happy that he didn’t give in to the other demands.

I’ve been watching, election after election, the public demand more and more private and intimate information from the candidates that are running. It was getting to be so intrusive I wasn’t sure what was going to be asked for next. Obama stopped that, simply by not responding. The people calling for all the private, non-public records, had no right to them, and he knew it. And so did a lot of us voters who were just as fed up.

Naw, actually I came back upon this post in the context of looking into people who are STILL posting this “breaking news” hoax, nearly two years after someone started it rolling. Then I just couldn’t leave the cut-off-fingers comment go. They wind me up just as much as I wind them, I guess.
