TV Ad: Working Waitress Type Against Maine Equality (Video)

The call went out yesterday from the anti-gay group Stand for Marriage Maine: SMM needs an actress willing to pretend to be a “working waitress type” and read a script explaining why waitress types in Maine should vote to ban marriage equality.

I’ve always thought I was the working waitress type. Unfortunately, I can’t be at the Howard Johnson in South Portland on September 2 from 11 am to 7 pm to audition for the advertisement myself. In lieu of that, I’ve decided to submit my audition online. Here’s my idea for a working-waitress-type TV ad supporting Maine’s Ballot Question 1.

Don’t worry, Stand For Marriage Maine. You won’t have to pay me the $500 per diem fee you mentioned in your solicitation for an actress. You can put this one on the air for free. Smooch.

The entertainment value of your, emm, audition is unfortunately eclipsed by the dumbness of depriving some Americans the rights other Americans have, ie. the right to marry the one you love, and be miserable like the rest of us.

It’s my hope that by doing this, we’ll be able to eclipse the effort by anti-equality types to own the (fake) notion that “waitress types” support their side. Attempts at fakery deserve buffoonery.

    Jim,

    You made that video?

If I didn’t see your face, I would of thought you were Mary Poppins! What a disappointment!
