Irregular Times: News Unfit to Print Logo

It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time of barricaded roads and new paths. Maps fade and direction is lost as we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we pass, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread. Gone are the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

What Is A Proactive State Of Emergency?
posted 24th October 2009 in Barack Obama, Homeland Insecurity by F. G. Fitzer

The Obama Administration has declared a national state of emergency over the H1N1 flu virus, even though it acknowledges that no actual emergency exists. “It’s important to note that this is a proactive measure,” says.

What is a proactive emergency? An emergency might exist sometime in the future, which is why the Obama Administration is claiming the legal power now to overrule laws as it is only supposed to do whenever an emergency is in progress.

Using this logic, what’s to stop President Obama from declaring a proactive state of emergency curtailing our constitutional rights based upon the proactive worry that a terrorist attack might take place sometime in the future?

Oh, wait. President Obama is already doing that – continuing the policy begun under George W. Bush.

Let’s just throw the law all the way down the toilet, as long as we’re at it, and declare a proactive state of emergency due to the invasion from Mars that might take place. We don’t want to be caught unprepared, do we? If you keep your freedom of speech, the Martians win!

Sounds like Barack Obama’s version of George W. Bush’s pre-emptive strike. We all know how well that worked out.
