Where to Watch NY 23rd District Election Results

November 3rd, 2009 | Posted by Jim Cook in Media | Politics | Questions | State and Local

New York’s 23rd District crosses a number of county lines, occupying the huge geographic (but tiny demographic) Northern hump of New York. This makes it a bit tough to find a primary location that covers New York’s 23rd District election returns consistently and quickly after 9:00 pm, when polls close.

Some websites to track:

The Hill, which has been following some election irregularities.

Waterdown Daily Times. Watertown is a small city mostly known for huge amounts of snow but the is the biggest presence in the 23rd District. The newspaper’s website is reporting election returns, sporadically, along with more local news (like the destruction of a border marker). The Daily Times reports that there may be delays in returns because of those above-mentioned election irregularities.

If the Watertown Daily Times had to pick one of the three nominal candidates’ images to bung up, they would have chosen the wrong one:

Also check CNN’s Political Ticker. They’re the big dogs on the national scene with many races to cover and so NY-23 results will be placed within in a fair amount of noise, but in the past two elections CNN’s web technology has been reliable.
