That article contains a gem of honesty from Robert A. Brady of Pennsylvania’s chief of staff: “There’s not much reason to reinvent the wheel on a Congressional Record entry.”

Yep, that’s right. There’s “not much reason” not to just drop the facade of democracy and let corporate lobbyists write the Congressional Record themselves.

    Holy fucking shit!

  2. Tom says:

This isn’t anything new. The revolving door of Congressperson to lobbyist has been established years ago as the “next step” after one has “served” in the legislature. Big paycheck, write bills to send back to your colleagues in Congress, who then don’t usually read them through, and there we have updates to the corporate control of “our” government.

Beyond that, what is anyone doing about it.

    Right, nothing.

What is anybody doing about it?

Let’s see…the New York Times reported on it. Jim posted a link. I followed the link, read it, and posted a comment.

That’s something. Talking about it is something. These bastards count on this bullshit being invisible, and we’re not going to let them.

    So people are doing something.

If my senator or congressman ever puts forward a piece of trash like this, I’m going to call and give his or her staff a hard time. That’s something.

People complaining DOES make a difference.
