In the 7th congressional district of Alabama, right-leaning Democrat Artur Davis, who has long represented the district in Washington D.C., will not be running for re-election in 2010. Davis has set his sights on the position of Governor of Alabama instead.
Seven Democrats are competing for the Democratic nomination to succeed Representative Davis. Among them is Eddison Walters, a mortgage broker from Tuscaloosa County. Walters says that education is among his top policy priorities as a congressional candidate.
Walters explains, “We need to improving our education system and inspiring next generation.”
