Pat Robertson says it. Stephen Bennett says it. John Hagee says it. James Evans and John Piper say it. Graham Dow says it. These and other fundamentalist Christians have declared the weather to be the vehicle of God’s judgment regarding gay people.
Today, the Washington DC City Council cast the first of two scheduled votes, acting overwhelmingly in favor of the legalization of same-sex marriage.
The weather in Washington, DC today? Absolutely average: slightly cloudy with a high in the upper 40s.
I guess this means that God has judged gay marriage to be absolutely average. If not that, then clearly the above-mentioned Christian fundamentalists are off their rockers. Which is it?
Neither – they’re both foolish ideas.
