Yet Another Pipeline Oil Spill

As they push to expand drilling for fossil fuels both on land and at sea, public relations representatives working for big oil companies keep on telling us that oil spills almost never happen. Yet, no matter how many press releases they issue, the facts remain. Over the last week, there were two separate oil spills up in Alaska, from British Petroleum pipelines.

Yesterday, there was yet another northern pipeline burst, this one in Minnesota, about 20 miles from portions of the Chippewa National Forest. Equipment that was supposed to prevent and contain an oil spill actually ended up causing a leak to occur, with about 210,000 gallons surging out into a nearby ditch, and then overflowing into some nearby woods.
