Mother Davis waits for a train to arrive as she writes,
Justin Wooden is a right wing Democrat who is challenging a moderately progressive member of Congress, Betty Sutton, in the 2010 election. Explaining his reasons for starting an insurgent campaign against an incumbent of his own party, Wooden argues,
“D.C. has forgotten what it is to be a servant of the people. They are so disconnected from the reality of our daily lives, that when they are confronted with an actual American, they think WE’RE from a different country. Political positions were never meant to be a career, yet we have career politicians.”
Apparently, members of Congress spend their days surrounded by fake Americans. Who knew?
Still, Wooden’s critique loses a good deal of its appeal when one looks at the facts and realizes that Betty Sutton has only been working in Congress for two and a half years. If Sutton is a career politician, then that’s a pretty short career.
Just hold on there, Justin. Representative Sutton hasn’t even had enough time to become disconnected and forget what it is to be a servant of the people.
Ending her five minute ordeal,
Mother Davis
Mother Davis,
Respectfully I disagree (of course I would right?). I don’t know how connected you are with Ohio politics so excuse me for the following statements if you already know them.
#1 Betty Sutton is not Moderately Progressive. She’s just plain progressive. Nothing moderate there at all.
#2 Betty Sutton was elected to her first post before she even graduated from college, and has had plenty of time to lose her ability to connect with the average citizen.
#3 Betty Sutton may have a house in the 13th CD, but she really only truly lives in the other two homes she has. One in New York and one in D.C.
#4 Betty Sutton has on many occasions skipped out on directly addressing voter groups or even reaching out to the public at large and has completely relied on the “machine” to get her into office and to keep her there.
#5 The only appearances she does do in Ohio are either per plate affairs or anywhere BUT her actual district.
#6 In fact an ongoing joke has been that she doesn’t even know WHERE her district is. She’s had to make changes to her website at least 3 times after voters have noticed that her website “theme” actually showed pictures that are related with the 11th, 17th, and 16th congressional districts and not her own.
So, Mother Davis, I don’t know if you were aware of the previous. Hopefully this will give you further insight into the situation. I have been making contact locally with Democrat operatives that are starting to warm up to my candidacy, or are at least pushing their county party heads to stay out of the fight. That doesn’t happen if everyone is “happy” with the incumbant. I have also personally gone door to door to get the signatures to get myself on the ballot (I have enough signatures now). Do you know how many people even knew who their congress person was? 2 out of 150. Do you know how many of them were handing me money at the door after they heard what I stood for? 23.
My whole campaign will primarily be spent going from town hall meeting to town hall meeting, which I plan on doing 1 or 2 a week between February and the end of March and 5 a week starting in April.
In ending, Mother Davis, I think you left out an important cornerstone of my campaign, which is not just that D.C. is disconnected due to distance and career, but also of experience. How would you expect someone, or a group of people, to ever understand what it is to be poor, when they never have been? How would they understand what it is to claw their way out of debt, when they never had to? How many of them were ever in unions, or the military? I think these are valid questions we all need to ask ourselves. Can a legislative body made up of over 90% lawyers, truly understand what it is to work that 9-5 job, or juggle utility bills, or the ring-ring-ringing of the creditors calls? How can they truly grasp the terror of impending layoffs, not knowing who will be next. That is our state of mind right now in the state of Ohio. That’s what my concern is, and almost every other Ohioan right now. What is Betty’s?
Respectfully,
Don Quixote
Debbie Burwell of Wooten’s campaign says ”
Justin Wooden is the only Democrat challenging Betty Sutton in the May Primary. He is “THE” candidate that:
will work to bring integrity back to the Congress
is Pro Life
will fight for 2nd amendment rights
is Pro Labor
will vote “NO” on the proposed Healthcare bills
will oppose gun control
believes in simplifying the tax code
wants to repeal the Corporate Tax
opposes “Cap & Tax”
will support off shore drilling
will fight for term limits in the Senate and Congress
will fight to close the borders
supports auditing the Federal Reserve
will demand a balanced budget
AND SO MUCH MORE……
But most of all he will listen and Meet with the constituents of the 13th District.
HERE IS MY QUESTION: If he is against all the Democrat Party stands for…why doesn’t the DINO just run as a Republican? Semms to me he will say anything to win.
