Military Spending Dwarfs Climate Pledge

There’s been a great deal of outrage expressed about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s announcement that the United States is willing to lead an effort to raise $100 billion dollars, over several years, with a good amount of the money coming from nations other than the U.S. The money would be available to help poor nations reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. “Hillary Clinton and all of the people who signed off on this funding initiative in the Congress should be indicted for criminal theft of taxpayer’s funds,” writes one furious blogger.

Yesterday, the Senate is preparing to vote in favor of spending over $626 billion for just one year of military projects. I’m not hearing the right wing screeching in protest about that big government spending.
