H.R. 3567, a bill to repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act, is not included in the slate of 16 bills supported by the LGBT Equality Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. Caucus co-chair Barney Frank has blocked the bill’s inclusion, declaring that DOMA repeal is “not achievable” and therefore not worth the effort.
Nevertheless, since October of this year 10 new cosponsors of H.R. 3567 in the House have added their support for the bill. Only one of these new cosponsors — Joseph Crowley of New York — is a member of the LGBT Equality Caucus.
