The Vice Of Exalted Characters

“As long as mankind shall continue to bestow more liberal applause on their destroyers than on their benefactors, the thirst of military glory will every be the vice of the most exalted characters.”

i only can hope obama does not agree.

  2. jon says:

So, in your view is war ever necessary? Has there ever been a situation where force is justified? And if there ever was a justified use of force, did those with your progressive brilliance back share that opinion at that time?

  3. Truman says:

Jon, your comment accepts the mistaken assumption that we have the ability to make certain judgments about whether policies are necessary or not. I observe that a declaration of necessity for any policy, including war, requires the certain prediction of future events, with the conclusion that there is only one possible answer. Given the extremely high costs of war, I distrust anyone who suggests to me that it’s necessary.

  4. jon says:

wow! i equally distrust anyone who suggests that there is any meaning in what you just wrote. Where did you learn such jibberish. There is a infitesimal number of out comes to any situation, there are however only a very few probable out comes. Which those with common sence and experience can and do narrow down to one or two. Unless you are of sub standard intellegence, or the product of vacant intellegence. Read..an adolescent emotionally stunted prejudice.

  5. jon says:

thanks jim. but i wasnt trying to make you laugh. i have alway considered you a arrogant fool, more than capable of being a source of amusement for yourself.

    • Jim says:

But if I was an arrogant life saver, what flavor of arrogant lifesaver would I be and why?
Tell me more, and use more words like infinitesimal! I look forward to your continuing comments.

      • jon says:

the flavor that can’t reply to substance, because you lack any. must be the result of the mocking you receive as a child. children can be cruel, but then they can also be perceptive. so i spelled a word wrong eh? tough crap, i’m surprised that you could tell through the drug induced haze. you see that utopia you’re searching for?

        • Jim says:

No, you don’t know what the word means.

There’s no substantive way to respond to you, since what you’re saying isn’t substantive. You’re just calling me names. Come up with some new ones, and put them in verse. Why don’t you try iambic pentameter?

  6. jon says:

to tell the truth is to become the truth is as I’ve found, the truth. your the pivot man in a circle jerk, who thinks he’s had sex.

  7. jon says:

jimmy, if you don’t undestand what I said it’s ok, maybe I wasn’t clear, or maybe you are not very bright. Either way you have never presented me with any counter argument to anything I have ever written. You employ classic neo marxist tactics, and poorly I might add. Nancy Pelosi is better at it than you are. And she is as transparent as glass. A hippo has mass, you are just an ass.

    • Neo Marxist tactics?!? Could you define what the characteristics of a Neo Marxist tactic are? I’m asking because it kind of sounds like you just made it up.

  8. jon says:

well woody, the tactics are simple, change the subject, ignore the facts, call the person names,( racist, homophobe, extreme right wing,) denigrate. Ridicule values, that you don’t share. Which is funny, coming from a group that prides themselves on being open, loving and enlightened. From what I SEE HERE, the focus is on hate, hating those that hold different ideas and values. Hating and mocking Christians. But then as people with such an expansive and vaulting view of reality, you are entitled to mock mere people. The neo marxist fits you perfectly..they have through out history live of the success of those they profess to hate. Russia and China have devoted entire armies of spies and moles to steal the secrets of the hateful US. Tell me one thing the Commies pioneered. Much like liberals in general, whinning about corporate greed among oil companies, big pharm and the rest. But never mentioning the profits that tax and spend Liberals garner in the form of taxes from those very corporations.

    • Jim says:

So as not to change the subject, then, when you call me a “Neo Marxist” you’re telling me that I steal secrets from other people and garner taxes from corporations? Is that what the definition of a “Neo Marxist” is?
