What Are Obama’s Tired Turns Of Phrase?

January 25th, 2010 | Posted by jclifford in Barack Obama | Politics

In the past, we’ve provided bingo cards to encourage fun, yet attentive watching of significant political events: An Obama-McCain debate in October 2008 for instance. These bingo cards carry political cliches of the day, and players get a chip on a square every time a particular cliche is spoken by a politician on screen. “Too big to fail,” was one of the phrases used on an Obama-McCain debate bingo card.

This morning, I’m thinking about creating some bingo cards for Barack Obama’s first State of the Union Address, which will take place on Wednesday night. I’d like some reader input about the content.

What are some of the cliche phrases that seem unique to this particular political moment?
