Congressional Primaries Today

Care about the future of your country? Watch tonight as the 2010 congressional campaign season has its grand opening with primary elections in Illinois today. Voters there will finally have the chance to select their own political party’s candidate for Barack Obama’s old seat in the U.S. Senate. Primary contests are taking place in most House districts in the state as well.

There’s a special election primary in Florida today too, as political parties choose their nominees to serve in the House seat most recently held by Robert Wexler. Whoever is ultimately elected in this race will serve in the House of Representatives for a term of only about 9 months. In August, another primary election for this seat will be held for the next 2-year term, starting the political process all over again.

Results will be coming in tonight. Tune in.
