Oil Spill On Great Barrier Reef

Barack Obama is supporting Sarah Palin’s goofy Drill Baby Drill agenda of expanded offshore drilling. He says we shouldn’t worry, that there probably won’t be a big accident any time soon…

…a big accident like the one today in which a big tanker carrying coal rammed into the Great Barrier Reef. Some fuel oil was spilled, but if the tanker had been carrying crude oil, the results of the accident would have been even worse.

That’s not going to happen along the U.S. coast though… probably… right?

a spill on the great barrier reef might be the spill that gets some media coverage. being a tourist destination, more focus will be placed on the outcome of this event. tourists equals money and losing money equals action. i have already seen a featured stories on this grounded tanker this morning on yahoo news service. there may be some changes in shipping lanes and in safety standards for those old decaying tankers. this could actually be a good thing for bringing attention to the problem of oil spills. i’ll be watching cable news today to see what, if any, coverage they produce.

April 22, 2010, Macondo prospect BP in the gulf, rig sank in 5K ft. Just what if the rig landed on the bottom ontop of the well head and BOP. Just how is moving another rig to the well and drilling back into this well going to work. First drill through the rig that sank and then hope to find the well. Get real. This could be a leak to last for years. Oooops Anyone want to buy my beach front property?
