Recently, U.S. Congressman Cliff Stearns had his campaign staff send out an invitation to a “Backyard Reception” he would be holding this coming Thursday. That sounds friendly, doesn’t it? It’s something your neighbors might do.
So, was Representative Stearns inviting people who live in Gainesville and other communities in his home district to his back yard down in Florida, right?
Wrong. This “backyard reception” is actually taking place in the back of a million-dollar townhouse in Washington D.C. that’s used by Molly Allen Associates, an insider political consulting firm, to introduce members of Congress to corporate lobbyists in exchange for money.
In his invitation for Thursday’s little backyard party, Congressman Cliff Stearns requested that every person attending bring a thousand dollars for him in exchange for the privilege of his company. This is not going to be the standard backyard barbeque.
That’s the way politics works: connect the people with money & in need of favors – OH SORRY, legislation in specific areas – with those able (and only too willing) to provide them. As far as doing what’s ethically correct, environmentally wise or best for the majority of the citizenry . . . .eh, not so much. Most politicians are the worst kind of whores. And our phony political system built around this corruption is a disgusting sham, a deteriorating facade, a frustrating charade of fools.
Whores that give legislation instead of sex. Unethical and tedious at the same time!
Ole Cliff has once again gone into hibernation now that it’s time to face his opponent and actually engage in debate! This time around, it’s not Democratic candidates he’s avoiding, it’s his Republican primary candidate! As for his cozy little backyard get-together, no surprise there. Cliff has quite a warchest of corporate donations. This man has voted lockstep with the most extreme elements of the GOP, always AGAINST his constituents and FOR big corporations! He voted proudly AGAINST the minimum wage increase after none for ten years–and defended this despicable vote in a letter to me! It’s Chamber of Commerce agenda for Cliff, at the expense of the ordinary wage-earners in his district! There is about a 13% unemployment rate in his home county (Marion) but he is STILL voting lockstep with the GOP elitists!
Stearns has surely NOT earned another term in his way-too-long Congressional career. I advise Dist. 6 voters to VOTE in the primary Aug. 24 for his opponent Don Browning. It is time for new blood and someone who will understand he is REPRESENTING the people of North central Florida!
And his refusal to show up and debate his opponents is a cowardly act! Go Don Browning.
Thanks for all the support. When I am elected, I will reverse several of Cliff’s practices.
Most most egregious is the practices of putting earmark amendments in Democrat Bills such as HB 3288. He then reenters the House Chamber and votes against the bill as being wrong, and wasteful. Stearns then reenters the chamber to collect his earmarks and thanks the speaker for laundering his earmarks.
On the local front, Cliff has not attended a single Candidate Forum. He uses Salaried Congressional Employees to do his campaigning. The employees all say they attend candidate forums and speak on behalf of candidate Stearns on their free time. It appears that Candidate Stearns is throwing in the Towel and the back yard get-together is a last grab for cash before leaving office.
Thanks everyone for your support.

NRA Gives $38,000 to Cliff Stearns. My Question is, why do we need to pay Stearns who runs as a PRO GUN Candidate, to support the Second Amendment?
I am a Reformer. I will stand up to the PACs who are in the business of attending these $1000 per visit meetings with Cliff Stearns.
Peregrin Wood has it right. The Red Light District can learn how to bring in the big bucks by following Cliff Stearns around for a while as he charges for his services.
My first task will be to expose these practices of taking money for your official services. We must restore trust in Congress or we will lose our great Republic.
