In an NPR article about voter perceptions of President Obama’s record, the following statement caused me to pause.
‘We’re not making much progress in the war on terror,’ said Paul Goren, a University of Minnesota political scientist who studies voting behavior.”
We’re not making much progress in the war on terror? What does that mean?
What is this “war on terror” that Goren is talking about? Fighting in Afghanistan? Airport security?
What kind of “progress” with the “war on terror” are we supposed to be making? Is it measured by people being more vigilant, enemies smacked down, or simply by people feeling less terror?
How is the rate of “progress in the war on terror” under Obama perceived to be different from the rate of “progress in the war on terror” under George W. Bush?
What would let us know when this “war on terror” is finally over? Would it ever be over, or just in a state of “progress”?
There is never any progress in the War on Terror unless nobody ever makes any threats against any part of the U.S. ever. Billions more $ needed!
It’s designed to be vague so Homeland Security and the Defense Department keep getting funded while the rest of the country goes bankrupt.
