New Congressman And The Boarder

Solomon Ortiz, a Democrat who has tended to cooperate with Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, has conceded defeat in this year’s congressional election in the 27th district of Texas an area near the border with Mexico that includes Brownsville and Corpus Christi. Ortiz has been beaten by Republican Blake Farenthold, a talk radio personality.

What kind of U.S. Representative will Farenthold be? An idea of his agenda comes from his campaign web site, which declares, “We must get serious about closing the boarder.”

Obviously Blake Farenthold has thought a great deal about boarder issues, but… um… what’s a boarder? Hold on a minute, I’ll go and take a look at Merriam-Webster…

Aha! A boarder is one of two things:

New development in this story! Apparently, Blake Farenthold has a particular enthusiasm for Saran Wrap. Over at Project Vote Smart, he writes, “Once we adopt a realistic policy with realistic numbers, we must use technology and personnel to seal the boarder.”

You seem rather bigoted against the spelling challenged. I’d like to meet the person who invented this stupid foreign language. I had to use spell check just to make sure this short message was spelled correctly. At least in Spanish the vowels always sound the same no matter what. It’s a much easier language to spell in. I’ll vote for someone who will make Spanish the official language of the United States.
