GOP and Democrats in Congress Pass Biggest Military Budget Ever

Something for Republicans and Democrats alike to think about: Democratic voters originally brought their party a majority control of Congress on the wings of anti-war activism. Republicans have regained control of the House of Representatives on the basis of a promise to control spending. Yet, this week, both Democrats and Republicans voted to approve a record-breaking military budget stuffed full of wasteful spending.

How does this legislation give voters of either party what they wanted?

…yes, the budget has wasteful spending that has nothing to do with the military…like breast cancer research, study of the Neww Mexican Field mouse and among other important nationl defense issues….while cutting equipment overhuals and upgrades…that’s the liberals loading a bill with shit to promote social engineering and military dismantlement….if the military budget was left with only MILITARY related spending, it’d be a hell of a lot less…

  2. The so-called “conservative” Republicans voted for it too, in large numbers. Why are you choosing to ignore that side?

The point of this article is that both Democratic and Republican voters have cause to be upset at members of both parties in this vote.

If you’re going to whine about spending, think rationally. You cannot seriously compare the cost of a single biological research study with the cost of a series of jet fighters that the Pentagon has says it neither needs nor wants.

…I can compare the cost of research with a jet fighter…if the research has NOTHING to do with the budget as a whole….get it!? And I do hassle about both sides and earmarks to the military budget. Like I said below….military budgets are for bread and bullets only…nothing more….

Dear Anonymus. I agree with your frustration with the Congressional practice of adding unrelated spending projects to named specific appropriation bills, but since when is Breast Cancer research a “Liberal” vs any other political viewpoint issue. What, female conservatives are not affected by Breast Cancer? Give me a break! If you’re upset with the addition of unrelated spending projects to appropriation bills; make that your argument for they are as commonly added by Conservative members of Congress and much as they are by the Liberal and Centrist members. Otherwise to only attack Liberals for such actions makes you sound like an ignorant uninformed right-wing partisan! Gee, then again, maybe that’s why you didn’t give your name for you are ashamed of your ignorance!

…never said Breast Cancer was a liberal thing…military budgets are for bread and bullets…nothing more….and yes…both parties are at fault, unquestionably….

      • Gene says:

Amen with regards to your statement, “…military budgets are for bread and bullets…nothing more….both parties are at fault, unquestionably”.
