Stand for Marriage Maine Continues Anti-Gay Push, Funded from New Jersey

In 2010, a year after the outlawing of marriage equality under law in Maine, Stand for Marriage Maine continued its political campaigning in the state of Maine, rolling out print advertisements and robocalls and push polls to affect the course of 2010 state legislative races. Their strategy, to consolidate anti-gay victories by electing anti-equality Republicans to the Maine State Legislature, was a success as Republicans took a majority in both the Maine House and Senate for the first time in many years.

On a website featuring stock photographs, Stand for Marriage Maine tells the public that “Stand for Marriage Maine is a broad-based coalition of Mainers who support the traditional definition of marriage – between a man and a woman.”

Is Stand for Marriage Maine really a broad-based coalition of Mainers?
