More Pharma Lobbyists Fund Romney 2012

Yesterday, I noted how Mitt Romney’s flip flop from creator of big government mandated health care reform to opposition to such health care reform might be the funding of Mitt Romney’s political action committee, Free and Strong America PAC, Inc., by lobbyists aligned with commercial medical interests. I identified one such lobbying firm, Arent Fox LLP, who gave money to Mitt Romney’s PAC back in May of last year.

Was the financial link of Arent Fox lobbyists to Mitt Romney’s growing political empire an aberration from an otherwise ethically clean separation between Romney’s health care policies and the money coming in to his political action committee? Not by a longshot.

Mitt Romney’s PAC also received money last year from Bryan Cave LLP, a lobbying firm that represents big companies with big money riding on the preservation of the medical system status quo. These companies include AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, the Biotechnology Industry Organization, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the Health Industry Distributors Association, Mentor Corporation, and the Theragenics Corporation.

Is a picture beginning to form?
