There is, in my opinion, no excuse for Moammar Qaddafi. He is a selfish, sadistic man who leads by intimidation and bribery, thwarting the human interests of his subjects in Libya.
That said, Moammar Qaddafi serves as an all-too-convenient foil for American presidents. He fills the role of Bad Guy so well that he makes everyone and everything else around him appear sparklingly clean.
So it is that many Americans are inclined to overlook the problems with the war waged by the United States against the government lead by Moammar Qaddafi. What are those problems, after all, when compared to the problems posed by Qaddafi himself?
That question itself, usually meant to be rhetorical, exposes the central problem with the popular perspective on this conflict. By fighting against a despicable enemy, we grant ourselves the permission to take extraordinary actions, just so long as they aren’t as bad as Qaddafi’s.
Yes, our missiles and bombs have killed civilians, but what is that compared to Qaddafi’s slaughter?
Yes, our President tossed our nation’s highest law into the mud in order to rush into this war, but what is that, compared to Qaddafi’s crimes?
Yes, we are spending a huge amount on war at a time when government aid programs to children, babies and pregnant women are being cut, but have you heard about the extravagances of Qaddafi, living in luxury at the expense of his own people?
By entering into war against Moammar Qaddafi, the United States has lowered its standards to his level. Justifying this war, it has become sufficient only for the United States to do better than Qaddafi. Our nation is brought into profound danger if we do not set our standards higher.
Financially, strategically, morally, legally, we should hold to our own American standards rather than lowering ourselves into Qaddafi’s brutal sphere. By our own long-established standards, there are serious problems with the entry into battle in the Libyan civil war.
Out of concern for these problems Americans will gather in protest throughout this week against the U.S. entry into the civil war in Libya. The following are the times and locations planned for the protests being held today:

I am totally against this war on Libya for the following reasons:
1. The West main focus is on oil in the city of Adabiya in Bengazi
2. This war will lead to a civil war which no one has caculated
3. The rebel are not fit to rule because of their violence on the Libyan people which no one has mention so far.
I find it so sad that the West always think that they are the only ones with solution to conflicts in the world. We all know that they are after the oil and not because they care about human lives in Libya or anywhere else in the world. The West are the worse nations of our times because of the greed which always lead to lost of millions of lives in Africa and Asia. They use corrupt government to dismental the political system in the confusion the west loot those countries empty. This is exactly what is happening in Libya. The West deny that there is human lost in Libya, how can they be sure that no one has been killed in the airattack. The double standard of the West world will always terrorisd the third world. Franch is stealing the oil in Libya now and i find that very sad. The UK, US and French have agencies who go around the world especially to create caous in order to removed government who say no to their wishes. Those rebel are being arm by the west to kill the own people in Libya and nobody is talking about this.
I agree. War is always nobody wins. Look at the destructions and loss of lives in Libya so far. Who pays for the hospitals, the grocery stores, electricity, the everything in Libya ? It simply doesn’t work if the rebels think they can overthrow a government in power for 40+ years. The rebels should work on other means of a new libya than just taking up arms and start killing. The West is so quick and eager to test our new Weapons and “toys” but always slow in reconstructing efforts. Have we ever think how we feel if we were living in Libya right now ? War and destructions don’t solve anything, everybody loses.
who cares
Yeah. It’s just war, right? And you’re certainly correct that Republicans don’t seem to mind the increase in big government that comes along with the Libya quagmire. So, yeah. Who cares?
why does USA want to make its interim government allover the world.
1st iraq killing saddam and now
2nd libya.
The enemy of our enemy is NOT our friend. It is our END. “Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto.”
