146 years ago today, soldiers in the army of the United States of America captured Jefferson Davis.
Jefferson Davis attacked the United States with huge armies with many more times the number of people included, even loosely, in the membership of Al Quaeda. Jefferson Davis’s attacks against the USA resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans, not just the few thousand deaths orchestrated by Osama Bin Laden.
If Jefferson Davis was captured alive, and then released without punishment two years later, why couldn’t an unarmed Osama Bin Laden have been captured alive, instead of shot in the head?

What about Lincoln? He was the conqueror\dominator.
I’m a fifth generation Minnesotan, (the First Minnesotans broke that little girl Pickett’s charge at Gettysburg and probably saved the war for the Union), and have never understood why the gallows weren’t running 24/7 after the war hanging the traitors of the south. Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, most of the generals, and all the pukes than ran Andersonville and other death camps, and all of the damn bankers that funded the inbreds from the south should have been jerking at the end of ropes. Just a little commentary from a proud Yankee family that celebrates William Tecumseh Sherman’s birthday every year.
So, you think Abraham Lincoln was like Osama Bin Laden? You must feel terribly dirty when you use pennies and five dollar bills.
No, I was making light of your black and white view of the civil war morality\justifications.
Sorry I didn’t get the dry approach.
To me it seems that what’s black and white is the simplistic attitude that we can allow American leaders to simply identify people, without trial, as guilty of crimes, and then just kill them to make things right.
Shit happens,Truman.I would much prefer that Bin Ladin face justice alive, however I would not have what it takes to drop into a hostile environment thousands of miles from home to capture him and bring him out alive, so I am willing to give those who did the benefit of the doubt,as to what transpired to make it impossible to bring him out alive. The seals were not on a suicide mission.Perhaps we can all wait for further clarifying info on exactly what happened, before passing judgment.
