On September 8, Texas Congressman Blake Farenthold said, “Big government is not the solution. It is the problem.”
On September 9, Texas Congressman Blake Farenthold begged big government to come to the rescue of Texas. “FEMA and the White House must help Texas during this time of natural disaster and provide the tools needed to fight these devastating fires. Disasters like these fires is why FEMA was created,” Farenthold pleaded.
I’m confused. If big government is the problem, why would Representative Farenthold beg big government to come get involved in the middle of a global warming disaster down in Texas? Why doesn’t Farenthold just wait for the genius of the free market to kick in and stop the wildfires?
An explanation comes to mind: Blake Farenthold is not the solution. Blake Farenthold is the problem.
Hey, ask all you want – it’s too late now “pahdnah” – better get used to summers like that, or move. We haven’t changed ANYTHING to ameliorate the warming/flooding/super storm problem and in fact we’re still drilling for more of the stuff that makes the climate like this – in the Arctic, yet! Can you say eco-cide? Well that’s what we’re doin’.
The sad thing is that there is no end to these examples of hypocrisy.
Big government is the problem. Just because his state needs FEMA does NOT mean we do not need to get rid of the duplicated programs and uneccassary departments like education. The state need to take many of these powers. The federal government has grown past usefulness. Any government that is powerful enough to supply you with everything is powerful enough to take away everything.
Thank you, O, federal government, for supplying yorkieczar with those words to write, and also yorkie’s oxygen, and yorkie’s porkpie hat.
So, then, by your logic, Yorkie, NO government, federal, state, or local, should be able to help people out when there’s a wildfire or other disaster.
Should we just let Texas burn, then?
I don’t see the free market coming up with any solutions.
It’s conceivable that the free market could do something to help. Sometimes free enterprise can advance scientific progress. Free enterprise is doing big things in space for less than NASA has been able to do.
However, I completely agree with this post about the hypocrisy of certain Texas politicians.
Conceivable? What IS the free market doing? Selling things to people who have had their property burned up. I’m not seeing the free market stop the fires. The federal government is doing that.
