Of course, there’s always a chance that something else has made its way into the treat bag. Parents should check the goodies carefully before allowing young ones to eat anything they have collected.
Says Steven Marcus of New Jersey Poison Control: “I don’t think we’ve ever really had a case.” University of Delaware Professor of Sociology Joel Best has scoured 50 years worth of newspapers looking for any actual verifiable case of candy-tampering on Halloween and hasn’t found any: “Really, the absence of news coverage is telling…. You can’t say that’s it’s never ever happened, because you can’t prove a negative, but what you can say is there isn’t any evidence for it.”
I’ve got a question for you: have you ever found something malicious and harmful in a trick-or-treat bag (that wasn’t put there by the trick-or-treater) on Halloween? Have you ever found tainted candy in a trick or treat bag? A razor in an apple? Something that could hurt a kid?
I’m not talking about a story you heard once or a newspaper report of a rumor or what your uncle’s brother swears happened once. I’m talking about something malicious and harmful that you personally found in a trick or treat bag on Halloween. If you have ever found such a thing in a trick-or-treat bag, tell the tale here in detail.

All the crap in the bag is poison! Sugar overload throws off the body’s insulin management system, rots out teeth, makes kids edgy, hyper and intolerable. Unless you want to parcel out that shopping bag’s worth of candy over the next year, i’d say toss it for good stuff like apples, popcorn, or granola bars.
