A final day of weather above sixty degrees came yesterday afternoon, and the low afternoon light amplified the color of the leaves still hanging on the trees around my house. I divided dianthus, moved a rooted cotoneaster, dug up turf and planted daffodils and tulips.
What are you doing to put your garden to bed?
pulled up all the tomatoes, peppers and put them in a pile to dry out – next week i’ll light ‘em up; dug up the elephant ear tubers and put them to bed in peat moss until next spring; picked up twigs and branches from the early snow storm; pulled all the dead plants from the flower pots and put the pots away; once all the leaves are mostly all down i’ll start mowing/raking (front first – the back can wait) – dump the shredded leaves on the back veg garden and turn the soil over after a week or so, weather permitting
I’ll be turning the soil over in my two vegetable garden beds today. Black-eyed Susan and coneflower dead heads are staying up while the chickadees eat the remnants.

It’s pretty obvious nobody’s listening or concerned about doing anything differently – and is why we’ll be going extinct before long. Man, if we thought last year was bad, wait til we see what’s comin’. They’ll probably make a “reality tv” show out of it so someone can make money as we’re all suffering.
