Jonathan Turley Deceives About Obama’s Support For UN Religious Tolerance Resolution

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/turleydishonest.jpg

There are real instances of religious discrimination. There’s no need for Jonathan Turley to go making up stories about threats to religious freedom. That’s just what he has done, however, with his dishonest and inaccurate article about United Nations Human Rights resolution 16/18.

Ricky Perry Would Amend The Constitution To Reiterate Right Of Prayer

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/perryhalf.jpg

Rick Perry has proposed a constitutional amendment to give public school students the right to pray, but they already have that right. There is no ban on public school prayer by students. The only thing schools and students aren’t allowed to do is to force anyone to pray.

Quincy and Charleston Unitarian Universalists Continue Pattern Of Christian Dominance

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/uualackofdiversity.jpg

These UU congregations all promote one particular religion – Christianity – over all others, in just about the same ratio. There’s not just a lack of diversity within Unitarian Universalist congregations. There also seems to be a lack of diversity between congregations. Unitarian Universalism insists that it isn’t promoting any creed, but these results show that it is promoting a particular creed – a special blend consisting mostly of Christianity, with a drop of Buddhism mixed in.

Biggest UU Congregation Reflects UUA Christian Dominance

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/tulsasouls.jpg

In Tulsa’s local version of Unitarian Universalism, I found the very same problem I’ve seen elsewhere. Unitarian Universalism claims to be diverse, and claims to be welcoming, but when non-Christians walk through the door, they find themselves left in a corner, ignored at best, and often belittled.

With Religion and Science, Ignorance Is Not Mutual

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/scilitrelbel.jpg

The results showed that religious identity is negatively correlated with scientific literacy. Non-religious Americans were the group with the highest scientific literacy. Non-Christian religious Americans scored higher than Christian Americans. Earlier, the The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found in a study last year that non-religious Americans have greater religious literacy than religious Americans do.

The War On Sacrificial Baby Day!

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/sacrificialbabyday.jpg

In order to meet the high expectations of Joan Clayton, I propose the following theological holiday greeting: “Happy Sacrificial Baby Day… For lo, a child is born, for no other purpose than to be tortured and executed on a sacrificial crucifix in a weird ceremony of blood that’s supposed to compensate for our own feelings of guilt.”

Netting Quizzical Beliefs

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/beliefomatic.jpg

This weekend, a friend invited me to take the Belief-O-Matic quiz, which purports to be able to tell me what my religious practice ought to be. All this religious test could reveal to me, though, was what paths I would …

Consubstantial Friday

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/consubstatialfri.jpg

In 22 states, if two spirits are consubstantial for 7 years, they become legally married. If you doubt me, I can consubstantiate that with some hard evidence.

Harold Camping: Forget Those Ends of the World. How about some Money?

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/familyradionetworknovember2011.png

In yesterday’s mail: Harold Camping’s Family Radio Network is forgetting those things which are behind. Never mind the March 2011 end of the world. Never mind the other end of the world in October 2011. Camping’s camp is reaching forward …

Gangaji Me

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/gangaji.jpg

“The truth of who you are is yours already,” Gangaji teaches. As I bask in the glow of Gangaji’s unique energy, I wonder: If I already have the truth, why would I need to pay to listen to Gangaji’s teleconferences?

I Am Like Isis

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/imlikeisis.jpg

This morning, the web site Go Goddess tells me that I am like Isis, the Egyptian Goddess who gave a version of her name to the pre-Christian holiday Easter. How am I like Isis? Did I marry my brother, who …

Jesus and Buddha Bully Out Diversity From Unitarian Universalist Association

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/uualackofdiversity.jpg

The Buddha seems to be the Unitarian Universalist poster boy of religious diversity. Whenever the Unitarian Universalist Association wants to create the appearance of diversity in its ideas and practices, it brings up the Buddha. Still, the Buddha is relegated to the sidekick of the UU Jesus bully boy, mentioned less than a forth of the amount that Jesus comes up.

The Rather UnUniversal Unitarian Universalists

Unitarian Universalists claim to offer a creedless perspective on religion, accepting equally wisdom from all the world’s religions, and from atheists and secular humanists too. That’s not what I am seeing in the Unitarian Universalist congregation library I’m looking at …

Krampus for President Campaign Pledges Separation Of Church And State

http://irregulartimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/krampus4prezring.jpg

The way he’s acting these days, I expect Obama to install a giant crucifix on the White House roof, instead of those solar panels that he promised a while ago. They seem to think that the 2012 presidential election is a contest over who loves Jesus the most. Heck, I’m from Austria, and even I know that’s not the American way.
