We at Irregular Times are ardent admirers of the burgeoning new online culture. But it's important to remember that we live in a real flesh-and-blood world as well. In that world, what we see strongly influences the way we think and feel about issues of the day. If you want to get the word out about a message or a person, you've got to give that word physical, not just virtual, reality. The 2008 election season is already underway and zooming past us. Predictions that the primaries would be a cakewalk for any candidate are receding into the political shadows to join John Kerry, and the next generation of Democratic Party contenders are jockeying with each other to create room for themselves on the next presidential ticket. As citizens, we can either wait for the Democratic party apparatus to figure out who should run for president, or we can take some responsibility for that process ourselves. If there's a political figure you strongly admire who has what it takes to be in the White House, now is the perfect time to get the word out. Putting a bumper sticker on your car will help spread the word and get people talking. If you don't drive a car, put a button on your lapel to let everyone on the street know where you stand. We offer these buttons and bumper stickers through our online shop of progressive paraphernalia. We hope that you'll go and grab a couple, and incite a little subversion amongst your friends and family. |
