Steve Mistler of the Portland Press Herald has discovered another connection in the growing list of connections between the campaign of financier Eliot Cutler for Governor of Maine and the Wall Street financiers’ political corporation called Americans Elect.
Americans Elect figures already identified as jumping in to support the Cutler campaign through contributions or “independent” [...]
Last week, I reported that in the wake of the 2012 campaign, when Americans Elect had dumped nearly $2 million into a Maine Senate race, six Americans Elect leaders had contributed to the Maine gubernatorial campaign of “independent” Eliot Cutler in the first half of 2013.
The Maine state campaign finance report for the [...]
As Richard Winger points out in his latest Ballot Access News, Americans Elect lost ballot status in California on December 31 2013, capping a year of drawn-out erosion in the official position of the corporate political party that tried to elect a “centrist” president but failed to find enough actual “centrist” people.
Can we finally [...]
This Just In: did you know that Newt Gingrich is impressed with himself?
Double Down, a newly released book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, is filled with a fair amount of stale information about the presidential election of 2012. If you look hard enough, however, you’ll find some information that is both interesting and [...]
It may seem like a long time ago, but it was not so long. Back in 2006, a political corporation called Unity08 started sending out well-funded broadcasts and arranging high-profile media placements through its inside connections. While it claimed that it was standing against the forces of “big money” and demanded that other political parties [...]
Indications of the last two months are that the privatized presidential election corporation called Americans Elect is shuttering its state operations while maintaining a nominal national presence. The latest Americans Elect state affiliate to go defunct is that of Maine; an annual report from Americans Elect in Maine was due at the end of May [...]
This brief post serves as a coda to the privatized election saga of Americans Elect 2012 and a prelude to whatever stage of activity Americans Elect might plan next.
Three points of information:
A search of Florida’s corporation records reveals that, rather than dissolving itself, Americans Elect is still active, filing an annual report on [...]
Is the Americans Elect corporate brand of privatized elections dead? Is it sold off to bidders?
Not if you go by its April 2 corporate filing with Rhode Island, which as we mentioned yesterday shows that Joshua Levine and Kahlil Byrd are still involved in the organization.
Not if you go by Minnesota Public Radio’s [...]
From 2006 to 2010 as Unity08, and again from 2010 to 2012 in renamed form, the Americans Elect corporation operated an effort to try and elect its own candidate for President of the United States via a privatized selection run by a corporate board. The privatized election efforts failed for two cycles in a row [...]
As you may recall, from 2010 to 2012 the Americans Elect corporation operated an effort to try and elect its own candidate for President of the United States via a privatized selection run by a corporate board. That effort failed dismally despite repeated national promotion due to the lack of interest and support of the [...]
A brief note: according to correspondence from the California Secretary of State, Americans Elect is still qualified as a political party in the state of California.
Considering that Americans Elect’s DC corporate status remains “dissolved,” it’s not clear that Americans Elect’s lingering status is anything more than a remainder.
