This 25 mile-long oil spill will inflict a lot more damage than just delaying people who want to travel along a road. Much of the crude oil will run off into nearby streams, rivers and lakes.
If demand is down, it’s because the cost of oil has stripped our bank accounts clean, because the cost was at unnaturally high levels.
What might have been different if Americans had been organized to reduce energy consumption at the beginning of this year, to get the price of oil back down to 80 dollars? How many people who have had to go into foreclosure would have been able to keep their homes?
